With reference to paragraph 66 of my

Secret despatch of 27th February, 1927, on the subject

of the dangers now besetting the Chinese Maritime

Customs, I have the honour to forward for your information

a translation of an extract from the Hong Kong newspaper

"Tai Kwong Po" of 7th March.

The local Commissioner of the Chinese

Maritime Customs, Lieutenant Colonel F. Hayley Bell,

informs me that he has not so far received any official

information on this matter.
